we are here! it's been quite a turbulent year to say the least. i think i've had the most growth this year and as a fresh 25 year old, it feels fitting to have experienced and achieved these things in my mid 20s. it almost feels like an evolution of sorts – owing it all to my 17 year old for the great hustle.
looking back, i come to a realisation that i've created way more than i've consumed content. this is largely due to the nature of my job and of course, the fics i wrote (year in review fic edition will be coming soon!).
now, let's get into it!

1. getting my dream job!
- i've been working as a retail associate for so long... and now, i've moved up to corporate as a visual merchandising executive. a visual merchandiser, for those that are unfamiliar with the role, is someone who takes care of the store display from apparel to footwear, mannequin outfits, store concept, marketing signages and the like. it's a really big role – i've never worked in corporate nor taken up a leadership role. to put things in perspective, i'm currently in charge of 10 stores across the country and that's not including franchise stores. i'm learning everyday literally and i've picked up so many skills this year alone from the job. it's only going up from here!
- god... opening stores are Not easy and these 2 stores are completely new concepts which were tricky. there was an element of trial and error as seeing visuals on screen do not equate to real life as easily, but we made it! so exhausting in both physical and mental aspects but i can now move forward with slightly more confidence in opening stores in the future.
- this number is small in comparison to others, i'm pretty sure, but it's an achievement to me. i've been writing fic since ..2015? started off with exo, i've dabbled in 3 fandoms and getting to this point is honestly such an honour. i'm happy that people are enjoying the silly little fics i post on the internet and i hope to write more in 2024.
top 3 memories of 2023?
1. my store team!
- sorry to keep making everything about work but that's all i've been doing in 2023 😭 the store team has been one of my greatest support systems. in your 20s, you'll make lifelong friends in university but i've never gone to uni, never graduated, but i've grown in one place for 3 years straight and i've been nurtured and loved by these people. they are my equivalent of trauma bonded friends.
- my friend and i have finally made our trip out of the chat! it was a very memorable trip due to the friendly locals and their never ending hospitality. oh and of course, finally met an oomf here.. my bestie lea who i adore so much, they are so lovely and adorably shy. thank you for kindly hosting my friend and i for half a day.
- as it says... yes i've been to 12 concerts this year. i'll get further into which i liked the most soon but all in all, it's been sooo fun. everything was fully opening up this year after the pandemic and i managed to cross off a few concerts on my bucket list.
top 3 concerts of 2023?
1. twice!
- this was a surprise.. not that i doubt the girls or anything but because i've been to So Many k-pop concerts and twice's concert felt like a whole fucking experience. my friend and i were gaping in awe the ENTIRE concert. the girls were phenomenal. i came out of the concert a whole brand new person, and also a jihyo biased girlie. jihyo takes your entire attention when she's on stage. i will never forget this concert.
- ok pls halt the hate comments... i know that they're quite a controversial bunch, i do not condone anything matty has said. but. But. i have to say that they've been my band since my teen years. they are so quintessential teen angst, tumblr 2014 band and i had an absolute rough time in my teens so discovering them at 14 years old did change my life (corny, i know). seeing them live twice was truly... fucking crazy. the mere fact that they played medicine on night 1 and me on night 2? that's for me. Literally for me. i'm sorry, i love them.
- we were front row at the vip section and god, was it a fucking night. she's so painfully gorgeous and so talented. i'm so glad to have witnessed her live so close. also, see ya again sabrina ;-)

- the long-awaited album by miss solana... memorable tracks: blind, love language & good days
- please .. we need him back right now! who's going to make sexy rnb music in 2024... memorable tracks: slidin (my spotify soty), black mirror & say you love me
- another long-awaited release, miss monet did that! memorable track: alright, how does it make you feel & on my mama
top 3 films of 2023?
1. across the spider-verse
- the miguel o'hara brainrot that i got from this film is so hilarious. miles morales is my son and that's the end of it. also, the soundtrack is insanely good, metro you're a fucking genius.
- karan johar got me again with the nepo babies, but genuinely, this gave me such 90s-00s romcom vibes with a modern twist. i haven't enjoyed a bollywood romcom in the longest time so thank you alia and ranveer for being the acting beasts that you are.
- interestingly, one of my last films of the year. watching this on a big screen was so fun. i got emotional when bey sang cuff it because i will never be able to witness this live (bey...asia exists...) and she's such a powerful and strong force of a woman. so much respect for her attention to detail and work ethic.

top 3 things to look forward to in 2024?
1. re-opening orchard central
- yeah i'm a workaholic.. all i do is talk about work but anyway, this is going to be my biggest project of the year – it is a 5200 sqm store and i cannot wait to play around with the space.
- there is a europe trip in the plans and i hope i can make it happen! nothing like sightseeing through europe in my mid 20s – a silly dream that my 6 year old self had.
- this year has proven to me that there is more to discover about myself. with this job role i hold and the people by my side, i truly feel like i can conquer more and evolve further.
